Palencia kitchens went in with the houses, so most of what we open is somewhere between its first and second decade. That decides what fails and what it costs.
Flat $80 diagnostic, credited toward the repair when you approve the work.
Palencia
Newer kitchens here run large gas cooktops on tight island cutouts, and clearance is as often the fault as the burner itself.

What drives failure here
Inland. Build era, installation and cumulative surge damage decide most of what we replace.

On the ground
Palencia sits inland on the US 1 corridor north of the city. It is a coherent enough area to service that we can usually cover it and the International Golf Parkway corridor on the same day, which matters more than it sounds: it is the difference between a part arriving on a second visit next week and arriving on a second visit the day after. The kitchens here went in with the houses, so most of the built-in equipment we open is on its second decade — old enough that the wear items have started to go, young enough that the parts are still current.
Four complaints account for most of the work, and each has a mechanical explanation rather than a mysterious one.
We take the cheapest and most reversible possibilities first: supply and circuit, then airflow and clearance, then the heated or sealed system, then the control board. That order exists because it is the one that costs you least. A voltage reading under load and a level across the cabinet opening take a few minutes and rule out the faults that only look like a failed board, and the board is usually the most expensive part in the machine.
One local factor is worth stating once and then leaving alone. JEA publishes 355 ppm for 32095, which is hard water by any measure, so anything in this ZIP that boils, sprays or freezes tap water carries more dissolved mineral through it than the same appliance would elsewhere. We treat that as one input to a diagnosis rather than as the answer to it, and what we replace is decided by what the meter and the strip-down actually show.
Built-in refrigeration in these houses is set into cabinetry, and on most installations the appliance has to come forward on its rails before anything at the back is reachable. That means clearing a path, protecting the floor, and allowing for real weight — a column is a two-person move, not a shove. Stacked wall ovens come out of a tall cabinet the same way and are heavier than they look.
Two things are worth checking before we arrive, because both change what the visit involves: whether the appliance is on a dedicated circuit or sharing one, and whether the cabinet opening still has the air gap the appliance was designed around. A built-in with less clearance than it was specified for runs hot for its entire life, and no repair changes that.
On these platforms the serial number, not the model number, decides which part fits. Two appliances carrying the same model designation but built a year apart can take different control boards, different valves and different hinges. We order against the serial for that reason, which is why we ask for it on the phone and why a photograph of the rating plate is the most useful thing you can send us. Common items are on the shelf; serial-specific boards and sealed-system components can take several days to come in, and we tell you which of the two you are dealing with when we quote.
Service runs Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings, on scheduled appointments, with the same flat $80 diagnostic credited toward the repair, the same written estimate before any part is ordered, and the same 90 days on labor and 365 days on parts as everywhere else in St. Johns County.
Everything described above is a kitchen appliance: a machine plumbed and wired into the cabinetry and fed by the same hard water. That is the whole of what we do. The heating and air conditioning equipment in a Palencia house — air handler, condensing unit, thermostat, the trunk and branch ducting in the attic — belongs to a different trade, and we neither service nor install any of it. Ask us about a hood duct and we can help; ask us about an attic supply run and the honest answer is a phone number that is not ours.
Completed work, parts and labor together. Most of what we do on this page lands between $190 and $1,090; the $80 visit comes off that once you approve the repair.
| What gets replaced | Parts and labor |
|---|---|
| Oven thermostat or temperature sensor | $190–$510 |
| Control board or touch panel | $430–$1,090 |
| Door hinge, glass or seal | $190–$630 |
| Bake or broil element | $200–$570 |

You get a written estimate before any part is ordered or any labor is billed.
What we fix here
coffee
A built-in coffee system is the most mechanically busy appliance in the kitchen. Brew group service, pump and heater testing, grinder and milk system repair.
refrigeration
Column and built-in refrigeration, including sealed-system work. Our technicians hold EPA Section 608 certification, which that work legally requires.
dishwashing
Circulation, drainage, heat and door seal are the four things that can be wrong. We test each in the order that costs least and quote before we start.
cooking
Steam ovens fail in a fixed order and wall ovens fail in three: heat, door, control. We measure each rather than guess, and quote before anything is ordered.
4.5
out of 5, across 60 customer reviews. Each one is a single visit, in the words of the person whose kitchen it was.
Glasses came out with a film that would not wipe off. He tested the water path, sorted out the rinse aid dosing and explained what the mineral here does to glass. The next load came out clear and has stayed that way.

Smoke rolled out past the front of the hood instead of going up it. He found the ducting crushed in the ceiling void and did what he could reach from below. Improved, but the real fix is builder work, which he was clear about.

Roasting came out uneven front to back. He measured the temperature at four points inside the cavity, found the rear element weak and renewed it. A tray of vegetables now browns the same at both ends.
